The Kuwait Ministry of Interior denied on Friday rumors spread on social media that it had received 45 vehicles as a donation from another country for border security and coast guard support, describing the claims as false in an official statement. The ministry urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and warned that circulating false news could mislead the public.

The ministry’s statement specified that the rumors were spread on some social media platforms. It stressed that the reports alleging a gift for border control and customs personnel were not true. The statement called for everyone to verify facts before sharing them. Such vigilance helps prevent the spread of misinformation according to the ministry.

According to Shafaq News, Basra Governor Asaad al-Eidani rejected similar circulating reports that he had donated the vehicles to Kuwait. The governor stated that the images showing transporters with Tahoe vehicles and his photo are fabricated. al-Eidani confirmed in an audio recording that the claims have no factual basis. The banners on the images falsely suggested the donation was to strengthen cooperation with Kuwait’s interior ministry.

The Kuwait Ministry of Interior has previously addressed the issue of rumors through its Security Media Department. Colonel Othman Al-Ghareeb said in a February statement that the ministry would take legal action against those spreading misinformation that incites panic. The department emphasized rigorous monitoring and security cooperation to protect public safety. This approach has been applied in the current denial of the vehicle donation rumor.

Reports indicated that the rumor featured images with references to the Kuwaiti Interior Minister Fahad Yusuf al-Sabah. These images suggested the vehicles were to strengthen cooperation and support for border security personnel. Officials from both Kuwait and Iraq denied any knowledge or involvement in such a donation.
