The General Administration of Customs reported that its inspectors at the air cargo department detected the first suspicious parcel arriving from the United Kingdom. That shipment included 100 sheets of A4-sized paper that had been impregnated with the suspected substance amounting to roughly 790 grams. Officers conducted a detailed physical inspection after their suspicions were aroused by irregularities in the package.
A second attempt involved a consignment from Canada that consisted of a package of books. One of the books was found to contain printed sheets saturated with the same chemical material. The combined weight of the narcotics from both shipments reached about 3.51 kilograms according to the authority’s assessment.
The customs administration stated that an Indian national was arrested upon his arrival to claim the two shipments. He was referred to the competent authorities along with the seized materials. The operation included coordination with the Drug Control General Department to facilitate the handover and subsequent investigation.
Kuwait Customs has recorded a number of notable drug interceptions in recent months. In June 2026 the body foiled an attempt to smuggle 86 kilograms of narcotics in an air shipment from Britain, according to KUNA. The seizure involved cocaine and marijuana hidden inside three pieces of luggage.
The authority also disrupted another effort to move five kilograms of narcotics through three separate air cargo shipments around the same period, according to Times Kuwait. The operation targeted parcels arriving via courier services at the airport. Officials extracted the contraband following targeted examinations based on risk profiling.
