The Zain Premier League resumes this week with a cluster of teams within striking distance of first place after only three matches, Kuwait Football Association tables show. Kazma and Kuwait SC lead the standings with seven points each, while Qadsia, Al-Salmiya and Al-Nasr follow on six points apiece. Al-Nasr’s Friday home match against Kuwait SC could prove decisive in the early title race, as both sides seek to overtake current leaders Kazma.
According to the Kuwait Football Association’s published schedule, round-four fixtures begin Friday with Al-Nasr hosting Kuwait SC at 5:50 p.m. and Kazma facing Al-Arabi at 8:05 p.m. The program continues Saturday with Al-Tadamon against Qadsia and Al-Salmiya versus Al-Shabab, before concluding Sunday with Al-Sahel meeting Al-Fahaheel and Sulaibikhat hosting Al-Jahra. The association has also fixed dates through round eight, incorporating postponements for teams involved in AFC and Gulf competitions.
Kuwait SC enters the resumption as defending champion after claiming its 21st league title in the 2025-26 season, Kuwait Times reported in late June. The club finished that campaign unbeaten with 15 wins and eight draws from 23 matches to total 53 points and secure a fifth successive crown. That performance earned qualification for the AFC Champions League Two, with runner-up Al-Arabi advancing to the preliminary stage.
Al-Nasr has recorded two wins in its opening three matches of the new season, league statistics confirm. The side, which battled through relegation playoffs last term, has relied on a blend of youth and experienced foreign players under coach Dhaher Al-Adwani. A victory over Kuwait SC would lift Al-Nasr clear at the summit and signal its ambitions for a stronger campaign.
The league expanded to 12 teams this season after Sulaibikhat and Al-Sahel secured promotion from the First Division, according to a Kuwait Times report from August. Sulaibikhat claimed the lower-tier title with 44 points, while Al-Sahel also finished on 44 points to take second place. Both newly promoted sides have shown mixed results so far, collecting points that reflect the competitive balance across the expanded division.
League officials have scheduled a pause from November 8 to 18 for the FIFA international break, the association’s calendar states. Additional postponements affect rounds five and seven due to continental commitments by Qadsia, Al-Arabi, Kuwait SC and Kazma. This coordination allows the domestic competition to align with players’ national-team obligations and regional tournaments.
