The Ahmadi Security Directorate conducted a joint security and regulatory campaign at the fish market in Al-Kout Mall together with the boat docking area on October 13, 2026. According to the directorate, participants included the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, the General Administration of Coast Guard, the Public Authority for Manpower, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Environment Public Authority and environmental police. The operation yielded 773 kilograms of spoiled fish that was seized on the spot with a violation report issued to the individual responsible for its presence.
The directorate reported that two individuals were detained after being found in a state of intoxication at the market. Two additional persons were arrested for residency law violations stemming from expired permits. All four were referred for legal processing as part of the wider enforcement action that combined food safety checks with general compliance monitoring.
The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition evaluated the seized fish and confirmed it was unfit for human consumption, the authority’s earlier statements on similar actions indicated. A comparable inspection by the same authority on October 9 in the Fahaheel area had produced the destruction of an identical 773 kilograms of spoiled fish along with four violation notices for hygiene failures. The authority stated that it would sustain these joint campaigns with partner agencies to protect consumer health.
Participation by the coast guard and environmental police addressed both maritime supply elements and adherence to environmental rules at the docking zone that serves the mall’s fish vendors. Commerce ministry inspectors examined trading practices while manpower officials reviewed worker documentation during the coordinated sweep. This multi-agency structure enabled simultaneous assessment of products, facilities and personnel at the busy commercial site.
The spoiled fish was removed from circulation immediately to eliminate any risk of sale to shoppers at Al-Kout Mall. The directorate highlighted that the campaign forms part of routine oversight activities across Ahmadi Governorate markets. Similar operations have occurred in recent weeks targeting fish, vegetable and meat outlets to maintain regulatory standards.
Data from the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition show that such campaigns regularly identify and eliminate unsafe food items across Kuwaiti markets. The October 13 action at Al-Kout Mall aligns with that pattern by addressing both the contaminated stock and associated legal infractions on site. The Ministry of Interior confirmed that comparable campaigns will proceed in cooperation with concerned parties to uphold public health protections.
