The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s continued attacks on areas across Saudi Arabia with a particular emphasis on strikes aimed at the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. In a statement issued Tuesday and carried by the Kuwait News Agency the ministry warned that these actions provoke the sentiments of Muslims around the world and amount to a dangerous escalation in violations of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites. The ministry also denounced parallel attacks on the capital Riyadh and several other Saudi cities as well as on civilians civilian infrastructure and economic facilities.

Attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait similarly drew condemnation from the ministry for threatening regional security and the safety of maritime navigation. The statement characterized the repeated hostile and cowardly acts as a flagrant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty together with a blatant breach of international law and international humanitarian law. No justification could exist for endangering such sites and populations according to the ministry’s assessment.

Kuwait renewed its support for the legitimate Yemeni government and for Yemen’s sovereignty independence and territorial integrity in the same statement. The ministry called on the United Nations Security Council to assume its responsibilities by implementing relevant resolutions particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817. These resolutions form the basis for political efforts to resolve the Yemen conflict the ministry noted.

The statement reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its backing for all measures the kingdom adopts to safeguard its sovereignty security stability and interests while protecting citizens and residents. Saudi Arabia’s security constitutes an integral part of Kuwait’s security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council states the ministry stressed. This position reflects longstanding ties between the two countries within the GCC framework.

The ministry has issued comparable statements in recent weeks following earlier Houthi attempts to target Riyadh with ballistic missiles and civilian sites in cities including Taif Yanbu and Baish during September according to records from the Kuwait News Agency. Those announcements praised the vigilance of Saudi air defense forces in intercepting the threats while repeating the call for regional de-escalation. Such repeated diplomatic interventions demonstrate Kuwait’s consistent approach to threats against its neighbor.

Holy sites in Saudi Arabia are revered by a global Muslim population that Pew Research Center data placed at approximately 2 billion in recent estimates. The ministry’s latest statement adds to a series of official responses that have accumulated since Houthi activities intensified in the Red Sea area and along Saudi borders. Kuwait continues to advocate for full implementation of UN measures aimed at restoring stability across the region.
