The Official Gazette Kuwait Alyoum published two Amiri decrees that withdrew Kuwaiti citizenship from six people in total. Decree No. 128 of 2026 targeted Hussein Ali Hussein Mohsen Al-Ajmi, Nashmi Mohammed Saleh Maneh Al-Ajmi, Sagheer Mohammed Saleh Maneh Al-Ajmi, Saeed Ali Farhan Hawi Al-Shehri and Halila Ali Farhan Hadi Al-Shehri, along with any who had acquired citizenship through dependency on them. Decree No. 129 of 2026 applied to Iman Sharif Najm Abdullah Hanyan Al-Shammari. The measures were issued at Al-Seif Palace on August 11, 2026.

A separate ruling by the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation declared the citizenship of 24 people lost under Article 11 of the relevant law, as detailed in Decision No. 14/76 of 2026 that the Official Gazette published. Those named include Asma Shaker Jahaz Rashid Al-Otaibi, Fatima Shaker Jahaz Rashid Al-Otaibi, Aisha Shaker Jahaz Rashid Al-Otaibi, Hanan Shaker Jahaz Rashid Al-Otaibi, Jawza Ghaib Ja’ilan Hamdi Hamdan Al-Rashidi, Hasna Ghaib Ja’ilan Hamdi Hamdan Al-Rashidi, Fahd Muq’ad Tarif Ayed Al-Otaibi, Waleed Fahd Muq’ad Tarif Ayed Al-Otaibi, Khalid Fahd Muq’ad Tarif Ayed Al-Otaibi, Ahmed Fahd Muq’ad Tarif Ayed Al-Otaibi, Faisal Fahd Muq’ad Tarif Ayed Al-Otaibi, Abdullah Fahd Muq’ad Tarif Ayed Al-Otaibi, Abdul Rahman Fahd Muq’ad Tarif Ayed Al-Otaibi, Ahmed Ghanem Mubarak Al-Omairi, Faisal Ghanem Mubarak Al-Omairi, Rashid Ghanem Mubarak Al-Omairi, Sultan Ghanem Mubarak Al-Omairi, Anoud Ghanem Mubarak Al-Omairi, Dalim Ma’di Mohsen Al-Hajri, Mohammed Dalim Ma’di Mohsen Al-Hajri, Ma’di Dalim Ma’di Mohsen Al-Hajri, Mubarak Dalim Ma’di Mohsen Al-Hajri, Afaf Fadghoush Nimar Jubairan Al-Ajmi and Fay Nader Ali Hassan Mashhadi Ahmed Ibrahim. The committee decision was issued on August 6, 2026, and took effect upon its appearance in the gazette.

According to the Official Gazette the decrees followed proposals from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and received approval from the Council of Ministers. The actions rest on provisions of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law. Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah also chairs the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation that issued the related decision.

A US State Department report on Kuwait outlined that national law permits revocation of citizenship for naturalized individuals in instances of felony convictions related to honor or honesty, dishonest acquisition of citizenship or actions that could undermine the economic or social structure of the country. The latest revocations form part of a sustained review process that regional compilations of government announcements indicate has affected more than 50,000 people since late 2024. A report from the European University Institute noted that legal amendments in recent years expanded executive discretion over such cases.

The Kuwaiti Nationality Law traces to Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959, under which Article 11 provides the basis for the Supreme Committee decision. Official announcements have cited the need to address fraudulent claims as a recurring justification across multiple rounds of reviews. The scale of the current campaign exceeds earlier annual figures, such as the 106 revocations recorded in one prior period referenced in government data.

The Official Gazette stated that all relevant authorities received instructions to implement the decrees and committee decision without delay. The publications serve as the formal vehicle for notifying both the individuals concerned and the public. Further execution steps will fall under the oversight of the Ministry of Interior.
