Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas figures show the first-half total from Kuwait represented a modest but steady gain over the $276.6 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2025. The Philippine central bank also reported that remittances across the six GCC states climbed 3.5 percent year on year to $2.93 billion in the same timeframe. Saudi Arabia accounted for the single largest slice of GCC remittances at $1.08 billion, the data indicated, while the UAE delivered the fastest expansion at 4.27 percent.

The GCC bloc generated 96.64 percent of all remittances from the broader Middle East to the Philippines, which reached $3.03 billion in the first half of the year, according to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas statistics. Within Asia, the $7.03 billion in total remittances from the region included a 41.65 percent contribution from the GCC countries. The central bank’s worldwide tally placed global cash remittances at $17.15 billion for the period, with Gulf flows comprising 17.07 percent of that aggregate.

An OECD economic survey covering the Philippines in 2026 noted that such remittances help support private consumption even during economic downturns such as the COVID-19 pandemic. A separate Fulcrum analysis published in January 2026 observed that these inflows have long propped up domestic consumption spending, allowing the country to rely on consumption as a steady source of GDP growth. The Philippines ranks among the world’s top labor exporters, with overseas workers sending back funds that finance household needs including education, healthcare and housing, the analysis added.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data for full-year 2025 showed total cash remittances of approximately $35.63 billion, setting a benchmark against which the 2026 first-half performance of $17.15 billion suggests continued expansion. The central bank compiles these statistics from banking channels, capturing formal transfers while excluding informal or in-kind contributions that form part of broader personal remittances. This reporting methodology ensures consistency in tracking year-on-year changes across individual host countries including Kuwait.

Recent monthly data from the same source revealed June 2026 cash remittances reaching $3.04 billion nationwide, the highest monthly figure for the first half of the year. This uptick occurred despite a slowdown in the annual growth rate to 1.7 percent, Trading Economics reported citing BSP figures. Kuwait’s contribution remained part of a stable pattern in which the United States, Singapore and Saudi Arabia led overall origins.

The sustained remittance flow underscores the enduring economic ties between Kuwait and the Philippines, where thousands of Filipino professionals and domestic workers maintain employment in the Gulf state. Public data from Philippine authorities have consistently highlighted the Gulf region as a key corridor for labor migration and associated financial transfers. As global uncertainties persist, the BSP statistics indicate that these cross-border payments continue to provide a reliable lifeline for recipient households in the Philippines.
