The General Directorate of Traffic announced on June 27 that a section of the Fourth Ring Road in Yarmouk will close for 40 days starting the next day to carry out road maintenance. The affected part runs from the Airport Road (Route 55) intersection to the King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Road (Riyadh Road) intersection in the direction of Salmiya. The directorate advised motorists to use alternative routes while keeping Airport Road open for traffic from Jahra to Salmiya.

In April 2026 the Ministry of Public Works intensified its nationwide road maintenance campaign covering the Fourth Ring Road among other key highways. Motorists traveling toward Salmiya will need to follow alternative routes during the closure period the directorate said. The authority has recommended drivers observe posted signs and monitor real-time traffic information for available paths. Airport Road will continue to serve traffic moving from Jahra to Salmiya without interruption according to the announcement. Updates on the works will come through official traffic channels as the project advances.
