The Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced the partial resumption of operations by several Gulf, Arab and international carriers through Terminal 4 at Kuwait International Airport. Carriers involved include Qatar Airways along with Emirates, Gulf Air and Oman Air, with the authority noting that the step supports passengers and ensures continuity of services while coordination with airlines continues. Passengers have been advised to confirm flight details with their airline and official channels before heading to the airport to ensure a smooth journey, the DGCA stated.
Qatar Airways confirmed that the daily non-stop service will operate from Terminal 4 as part of its summer 2026 schedule. The group has restored its network to 85 percent of pre-crisis levels, a target set amid regional challenges earlier this year. Two new executive positions have been created to strengthen operational oversight and integrate customer engagement under a single strategic framework, according to the airline.
Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 4, which opened in 2018, adds capacity for an additional 4.5 million passengers per year and includes flexible gate systems for carrier expansion. The terminal was developed after the airport saw more than 13 million passengers in 2016, exceeding then-available facilities. AECOM, the design consultant on the project, reported that the new building has eased congestion and improved passenger services since becoming operational.
Recent disruptions at the airport led to flight suspensions and rescheduling, prompting a phased reopening of Terminal 4 following safety reviews. Kuwait Airways and other operators have likewise resumed services from the terminal after technical assessments confirmed readiness, the General Civil Aviation Authority reported in early June. Air traffic has since returned to scheduled timings, supporting a broader return to reliable regional connectivity.
The resumption strengthens travel options for Kuwait residents and visitors by linking to Qatar Airways’ network spanning more than 160 destinations across multiple continents.
