The Kuwait Fire Force contained a fire that broke out at a waste recycling plant in Mina Abdullah on the afternoon of July 10, 2026, with no injuries or casualties reported. Firefighting units from the Mina Abdullah and Umm Al Hayman stations responded to the scene and brought the blaze under control, according to the force, while continuing operations to fully secure the site against any potential spread. The prompt action prevented further damage in the industrial zone, which has seen repeated incidents in recent times.

Mina Abdullah has been the location of several industrial fires over the past 14 months. In May 2026 the Kuwait Fire Force contained a blaze at a paper products factory there without injuries after dispatching teams from five stations, local reports indicated. A more serious fire at the Mina Abdullah refinery in May 2025 resulted in one worker’s death and injuries to four others, the Kuwait National Petroleum Company stated.

According to Kuwait Fire Force figures, the organization responded to 1,304 fires in residential and non-residential premises during the first half of 2025. Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, director of the force’s public relations and media department, told the Kuwait News Agency that Hawalli Governorate accounted for the largest share with 215 cases. The tally reflected activity across all six governorates of the country.

An assessment by the Environmental Public Authority placed one of Kuwait’s three major municipal waste landfills in Mina Abdullah. The authority’s Waste Management Atlas of Kuwait found that these three sites together produce 96 percent of the nation’s landfill gas emissions. The national waste strategy targets a complete ban on landfilling untreated organic waste by 2040 to address environmental concerns.

The Kuwait Fire Force has warned that electrical short circuits and appliance misuse frequently spark fires, especially in warmer months. In public statements the force has urged operators of industrial facilities including waste plants to conduct regular safety inspections. Such measures are viewed as essential for minimizing risks in areas like Mina Abdullah.

Integration of digital systems at the Kuwait Fire Force operations center is underway to shorten emergency response intervals, a November 2025 market intelligence report from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency indicated. The initiative forms part of broader safety solutions aimed at handling the volume of calls the force receives annually. Multiple stations positioned near industrial hubs enable the rapid deployment seen in the July 10 incident.
