Security sources reported that the Nigerian worker presented himself at the Farwaniya police station to file the formal complaint after the alleged incident with his sponsor. The case has been documented and transferred to the investigations department where officers will question both parties and collect supporting evidence. Police have not disclosed the precise circumstances of the alleged assault or the identities of those involved pending the outcome of the probe. The complaint surfaces amid heightened scrutiny of sponsor-expatriate relations across the governorate.

The Ministry of Interior announced on the same day that the Farwaniya Governorate Security Directorate had completed a comprehensive security and traffic campaign in the Al-Rai area that produced 981 total actions and violations. The operation supervised by Director General Brig Faisal Musaed Al-Rubah and his assistant Brig Youssef Fahad Al-Sowlah led to 101 arrests including 78 individuals who were wanted or had absconded from sponsors. Additional arrests covered nine labor law violators seven people with expired visas six in possession of narcotics and one person banned from entering the country according to the ministry’s breakdown which sums precisely to the total arrests reported.

Participating government agencies contributed 676 actions during the campaign the Ministry of Interior stated. The Public Authority for Manpower documented nine labor law violations while the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition recorded 45 cases of working without a health card and 12 instances of improper food storage. The Kuwait Fire Force issued 37 violation notices closed 23 establishments and issued one closure warning the ministry’s summary showed.

Kuwait Municipality recorded 517 stickers placed on abandoned vehicles 13 pledges not to repeat violations 10 cases of public cleanliness and road encroachment plus the cleaning of five sites and removal of four abandoned vehicles the ministry added. Traffic teams issued 122 citations impounded four abandoned vehicles and a motorcycle and seized one vehicle wanted by the courts during the operation. The campaign also delivered 76 humanitarian assistance cases that formed part of the overall 981 actions tallied by the ministry.

Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in August 2026 clarifying earlier reports about recruitment of Nigerian domestic workers to Kuwait and underscoring ongoing diplomatic engagement on welfare and working conditions. The Nigerian embassy had previously requested a suspension of deployments until protections for its citizens could be strengthened the ministry’s press release noted. Such measures reflect persistent concerns about treatment of Nigerian nationals employed under the kafala sponsorship system in the Gulf state.

Legal proceedings against those arrested in the Farwaniya campaign including any absconding workers have been initiated and all cases referred to the competent authorities the Ministry of Interior confirmed. The directorate continues similar operations across the governorate to enforce compliance with residency labor and traffic regulations. No updates have been released on the specific Nigerian expatriate’s assault complaint as the investigation remains active.
