The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army announced on Monday that air defense systems had intercepted hostile missile and drone attacks amid ongoing Iranian aggression, with any explosions heard by the public resulting from those defensive engagements. It urged citizens and residents to adhere to safety and security instructions from the relevant authorities. The statement followed detections of threats in Kuwaiti airspace that prompted activation of the systems to safeguard national territory.

Defense Ministry spokesperson Colonel Saud Al-Atwan stated that the Kuwaiti Armed Forces intercepted hostile ballistic missiles and drones detected since early Sunday, with the continued Iranian aggression striking civilian and vital facilities including installations of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. He reported that the attacks caused fires and extensive damage to several key sites. Al-Atwan added that the armed forces maintain high readiness and professionalism while coordinating with authorities to protect sovereignty, security, stability and the safety of citizens and residents.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah visited injured Kuwait Fire Force personnel wounded while responding to a fire at a site hit during Saturday’s Iranian aggression, the Kuwait Fire Force reported. Medical teams briefed Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef on the condition of the injured firefighters, after which he directed that they receive the highest level of medical care. The minister praised the efforts of medical staff and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, according to a statement from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The UAE described the actions as a violation of the three countries’ sovereignty and a threat to regional security and stability while reaffirming solidarity with Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan along with support for measures to safeguard their security. Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi similarly condemned the attacks in a Sunday phone conversation, reaffirming their nations’ right to protect sovereignty and security while discussing diplomatic efforts for stability.

Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al-Yamahi condemned the Iranian strike on a Kuwaiti power and water desalination facility as a grave violation of international law, according to his statement. He described the targeting of civilian facilities and vital infrastructure as an unacceptable assault on Kuwait’s sovereignty and a dangerous escalation threatening regional security. Al-Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s support for Kuwait and called on the international community to act firmly against attacks on Arab states and civilian infrastructure.

Bahrain, Egypt and Jordan issued parallel condemnations of the Iranian actions, with the Bahraini Foreign Ministry terming repeated strikes on civilian and vital facilities including air navigation systems in the Bahrain Flight Information Region as a serious breach of international law and a threat to aviation safety. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry rejected the attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain as a dangerous escalation and violation of sovereignty while expressing full solidarity with both states. Jordan summoned the Iranian charge d’affaires to protest the continued attacks and provocative statements, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali urging Tehran to halt them immediately and stressing that Jordan’s security remains a red line while reaffirming solidarity with GCC states.

This latest assault forms part of the wider 2026 Iran war that began with US and Israeli strikes in February, prompting Iranian retaliatory actions against Gulf states hosting American assets, according to assessments compiled by the Middle East Council on Global Affairs. Kuwait has faced repeated waves of missiles and drones since March, with prior incidents disrupting power lines and leading the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation to declare force majeure on crude export contracts routed through the Strait of Hormuz. The Defense Ministry has reported no casualties in some interceptions even as infrastructure sustains material damage across multiple rounds.
