The General Department of Criminal Investigations, in cooperation with the Public Security Sector, arrested a Bangladeshi national less than 24 hours after a report of a killing at a construction site in Mutlaa, according to a statement from the department. Investigators focused on a former guard at the location after the body of his replacement was discovered on the roof of the plot on the morning of October 30. The department’s statement indicated that the suspect had been replaced at the job only the day before the incident occurred.
When confronted by authorities with the findings of their inquiries, the suspect confessed to the crime and attributed it to a dispute with the victim, the criminal investigations unit reported. He admitted striking the guard with a wooden object before using a knife in the attack that caused the death. The statement from the department noted that legal procedures are underway to refer the case to the competent authorities for prosecution.
Security teams had cordoned off the scene upon discovering the body to allow public prosecution officials, criminal investigators and forensic experts to examine the site and remove the remains. The swift identification and detention of the suspect reflect coordinated operations among Kuwaiti security branches that have resolved similar cases in short timeframes. Initial inquiries also established that the Bangladeshi man had been reported absent from his residence prior to turning up in the investigation.
This latest case adds to concerns over incidents involving expatriate laborers in essential sectors, as Kuwait maintains a large foreign workforce. Public Authority for Civil Information figures place the expatriate population at more than three million, many of whom fill construction and guarding positions across the country. A Jamuna TV report broadcast in May 2025 highlighted the Kuwaiti government’s firm stance against crimes committed by expatriates, including blacklisting and deportation measures applied to numerous Bangladeshi nationals involved in offenses.
The Ministry of Interior has not issued further details on the victim’s nationality or additional background on the workplace disagreement at this stage of the proceedings. Authorities completed the initial investigation and transferred the suspect for continued legal processing. The department emphasized that all evidence gathered at the scene would support the ongoing case file.
