The Capital Governorate Inspection Control Unit, working alongside the Ministry of Interior’s Farwaniya Governorate Criminal Investigation Department, raided a warehouse in Kuwait City on Wednesday following a period of monitoring and surveillance. Authorities discovered 1,430 used tires that had been cleaned, refurbished and prepared for sale to consumers, along with the polishing equipment used in the operation, the unit reported. A full violation report was filed and the items documented as legal action gets underway against those responsible.
Investigations showed the facility had been storing the tires, restoring their external appearance and repackaging them to appear suitable for the market, according to details released by the involved authorities. The coordinated effort between the governorate inspection team and the criminal investigation department highlights ongoing campaigns to prevent the circulation of substandard goods. Relevant ministries will pursue the case through established legal channels to ensure accountability.
This seizure adds to a series of similar actions taken across Kuwait in recent months. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry uncovered a container operating as an illegal tire refurbishing workshop in July and seized 290 tires in that raid, according to a Times Kuwait report from that period. Legal measures were also initiated against the operators in that instance through inter-agency coordination.
Capital Governorate inspection teams have focused on commercial warehouses and storage sites as part of efforts to enforce trade regulations. Figures from comparable operations suggest that several thousand used tires have been confiscated in such drives over the past year. The Farwaniya department’s involvement ensures that criminal aspects of these violations receive proper scrutiny.
Authorities did not release the exact location of the warehouse beyond identifying it as being in the capital area. The joint team emphasized documentation of all evidence collected during the raid for use in subsequent proceedings. Disposal of the seized tires will follow protocols established for such environmental and safety-related infractions.
