According to the Ministry of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah conducted a field inspection tour of several Kuwaiti Army units and sites on August 8 to review operations and assess combat readiness amid regional developments. The minister emphasized maintaining the highest levels of preparedness and performing duties with a strong sense of responsibility to address current challenges. He expressed prayers for the continued protection of Kuwait, its leadership and its people under the guidance of Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. At the conclusion of the visit the minister commended the dedication and vigilance of armed forces personnel and praised their high level of readiness in carrying out national duties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed a statement by members of the United Nations Security Council the following day, the ministry said in an announcement. The Security Council statement condemned missile attacks by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia since July 13 and attacks targeting commercial vessels since July 22. The ministry expressed appreciation for the emphasis on adherence to international law and relevant UN resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, as well as respect for Yemen’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
Kuwait stressed its rejection of actions that threaten regional security and the safety and freedom of maritime navigation, according to the foreign ministry statement. The ministry renewed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken by the kingdom to protect its sovereignty and security. It also reaffirmed support for Yemen’s legitimate government and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen in efforts to achieve peace, security and stability in the country.
Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry similarly welcomed the Security Council statement, the ministry reported. Bahrain affirmed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability, citing historic ties, shared destiny and the GCC Joint Defense Agreement. The ministry commended Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic, developmental and humanitarian efforts in Yemen along with its role in a multinational defensive maritime coalition aimed at strengthening maritime security and protecting freedom of navigation.
A monthly forecast published by the Security Council Report noted that the UN body planned a briefing and closed consultations on Yemen during August 2026 amid escalating regional tensions. UN records show that Resolution 2216 was adopted in April 2015 and demands Houthi withdrawal from seized territory while supporting the Gulf Initiative and outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference. Kuwait’s position aligns with repeated GCC calls for implementation of these measures to restore stability.
The defense ministry has reported similar inspection visits by the minister throughout 2026, including reviews of strategic projects in April and May. In June the minister attended SAHA EXPO 2026 in Turkiye, where the ministry said he toured pavilions to examine the latest defense systems and military technologies. These visits form part of routine oversight to evaluate operational preparedness across army units.
