The Kuwait Traffic Directorate has called on drivers holding unpaid traffic violations to address their settlement orders immediately to prevent transfer of files to the Traffic Court. According to the directorate’s advisory, acting without delay allows motorists to resolve matters through standard payment channels rather than facing judicial escalation. The statement emphasized that referral triggers application of full legal provisions, which vary based on violation type and related regulations. Motorists received encouragement to verify their records proactively as part of routine compliance measures.

Ministry of Interior figures show public traffic violations fell 83 percent in a recent month to 28,464 cases from 168,208 recorded a year earlier. This reduction aligns with broader enforcement initiatives and updated regulations that the Interior Ministry has implemented to improve road discipline. The General Department of Traffic maintains digital services that enable quick status checks and payments for both citizens and residents alike.

Drivers can access the violation enquiry and payment portal by navigating to the General Department of Traffic section on the official Ministry of Interior website. The process involves entering a civil identification number to retrieve outstanding amounts and complete electronic transactions where eligible. This online system, expanded in recent years, has streamlined procedures and reduced the need for physical visits to traffic departments in many routine cases.

The advisory coincides with ongoing updates to traffic regulations, including revised fine structures under newer legislation from the Interior Ministry. Reckless driving, for instance, now carries a standard fine of KD 150 according to ministry announcements on the updated law that took effect in 2025. Such changes form part of sustained efforts to address common infractions through both deterrence and easier compliance pathways.

The General Department of Traffic has run multiple targeted operations against speeding and related violations in recent periods. One mobile radar campaign produced 156 citations for speed limit breaches in addition to the detention of a wanted person, according to ministry reports from mid-2025. These activities illustrate the scale of monitoring that complements the latest call for voluntary fine payments.

Individuals seeking to confirm their traffic status should utilize the approved e-services portal maintained by the Ministry of Interior. The platform updates records following payments, though users are advised to allow up to 15 minutes for system synchronization. Regular checks help ensure violations do not accumulate to the point of mandatory court referral as outlined in the directorate statement.
