The Ministry of Interior announced that the Farwaniya Security Directorate carried out a security campaign in Khaitan that resulted in the arrest of 47 individuals. The sweep, which took place from late Tuesday evening into the early hours of Wednesday, concentrated on persons violating residency requirements along with absconders and those subject to outstanding warrants. The ministry emphasized that these operations form an integral component of its strategy to uphold legal standards in high-density areas.

According to the ministry similar campaigns will be expanded to additional locations in the coming days and weeks. This continuation is designed to systematically address compliance issues and reduce the presence of unauthorized residents across different governorates. The approach reflects a coordinated plan involving multiple security units to achieve sustained law enforcement outcomes.

A comparable security action in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Khaitan reported by Times Kuwait in August 2025 led to 26 arrests and the shuttering of 19 shops operating without required licenses, the ministry stated at the time. That campaign incorporated participation from the Fire Force, Municipality, Ministry of Electricity and other agencies to tackle both security and regulatory breaches simultaneously. The multi-agency model has been a recurring feature in the ministry’s operations targeting commercial and residency infractions in the region.

Public Authority for Civil Information figures place Kuwait’s expatriate population at roughly 3.3 million, accounting for more than two-thirds of all residents and increasing the demands placed on security operations in districts such as Khaitan. The Ministry of Interior has responded with repeated campaigns aimed at verifying documentation and locating wanted persons in these communities. The Farwaniya governorate has featured prominently in the ministry’s enforcement calendar over the past several years.

The Ministry of Interior has documented thousands of violations through its successive Khaitan operations, with one November 2024 campaign alone generating 2,511 traffic citations and 33 arrests as detailed in ministry releases summarized by Times Kuwait. Such figures provide context for the latest arrest total of 47 and the directorate’s continued focus on the district. The ministry has indicated that its security directorates will persist with these targeted interventions.
