When the patrol signaled the driver to pull over for inspection, he initially failed to comply before eventually stopping. The sources stated that the man then became agitated, directed verbal abuse at the officers, physically assaulted them and caused visible damage to the police car during the confrontation. Authorities took the suspect into custody at the scene and transported him to the nearest station for processing.
The individual was referred to forensic authorities for testing to determine his level of intoxication from alcohol or other substances, according to the same security sources. He stands accused of driving under the influence, assaulting law enforcement personnel and inflicting damage on official property, all of which carry separate penalties under Kuwaiti statutes. The Directorate General of Traffic has noted in prior announcements that such combined violations frequently lead to license suspension, vehicle impoundment and mandatory court appearances.
The arrest forms part of broader enforcement actions by the Ministry of Interior, whose Operations Affairs Sector documented 39,932 traffic citations issued during campaigns conducted the previous week. Those same operations handled 1,211 road accidents while resulting in the detention of 196 individuals wanted on outstanding warrants, the sector reported. Emergency police components within the campaigns additionally addressed 2,190 violations and referred 20 suspects for suspected narcotics involvement.
General Directorate of Traffic figures for 2024 placed the number of reckless driving and disregard violations at 11,307 while authorities issued 1,926,320 citations for speeding during the full year. The directorate’s assessment also logged 173,793 instances of running red lights alongside 79,019 cases of mobile phone use while operating a vehicle. Such data underscores the scope of traffic regulation challenges that prompt frequent patrols in residential zones including Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
Farwaniya governorate, which encompasses the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh district, has witnessed repeated security sweeps targeting both traffic and criminal offenses in recent months. One August campaign in the area produced 45 arrests on charges ranging from absconding to theft and suspected drug possession, the ministry stated. Officials have consistently maintained that sustained operations serve to deter violations and protect both residents and road users from preventable hazards.
