The Indian national told authorities that the confrontation occurred when the tow truck operator arrived to impound his car in Mahboula on Tuesday. He alleged the driver not only towed the vehicle improperly but also physically assaulted him during a dispute over the procedure and caused additional damage. Local police have registered the case and are gathering evidence from witnesses and security cameras in the vicinity.

Kuwait Municipality has been reviewing similar complaints about towing operations following a surge in reports of vehicle damage at impound sites. Sources from the Services Sector indicated that Deputy Director General Mishal Al-Azmi is examining issues raised by both citizens and expatriates regarding the use of outdated equipment. This includes instances where vehicles returned from impoundment show flat tires or other forms of damage.

In a related case earlier this year, a tow truck driver received a four-year prison sentence for causing permanent disability to a motorist during a traffic altercation, the Criminal Court ruled based on medical and technical reports. The forensic assessment confirmed multiple fractures leading to a 20 percent permanent disability. Such incidents highlight ongoing concerns over the conduct of towing personnel across Kuwait.

Traffic authorities recorded more than 1.1 million violations between April and August, with illegal parking among the leading infractions that frequently result in towing according to the General Directorate of Traffic. The data also showed 415,000 speeding citations and nearly 95,000 for mobile phone use while driving. These statistics underscore the high volume of interactions between drivers and towing services.

Mahboula, a residential area popular with expatriates south of Kuwait City, has seen its share of road-related disputes amid its dense population and mix of nationalities. The district offers international schools, shopping malls and sports facilities that appeal to foreign residents many of whom describe it as convenient yet in need of tighter service regulations. Similar towing disputes have surfaced periodically in the Ahmadi governorate.

Police are urging anyone with information about the latest incident to come forward as the investigation continues. The expat provided a detailed statement outlining the sequence of events leading to the alleged assault and vehicle harm. Officials have not released further updates on the probe’s progress.
