The Criminal Court convicted two Kuwaiti citizens of trafficking hashish and psychotropic substances before imposing life imprisonment on each defendant. Public prosecution evidence presented during the trial established that the men had obtained and prepared the drugs for distribution within local markets. The General Department for Narcotics Control conducted the arrests after receiving intelligence that led officers to locations where the substances were stored.

According to the Ministry of Interior updated legislation allows life sentences or the death penalty for major drug offenses including those involving organized distribution or aggravating factors. A ministry statement from December 2025 listed conditions such as exploiting minors or abusing official positions that trigger the harshest penalties. The verdict against the two Kuwaitis reflects the consistent application of these rules across recent cases.

Times Kuwait reported that in June 2026 the Court of Appeal sentenced a Bangladeshi national to life imprisonment after overturning an acquittal in a cannabis and heroin case. The same panel upheld 15-year prison terms and fines of KD 10 000 for two accomplices of the same nationality. That investigation started with a raid in Abu Halifa and extended to storage sites in Fintas and Mangaf where multiple drug types were recovered.

Gulf News reported in January 2026 that two Indian nationals received death sentences for trafficking 14 kilograms of heroin and eight kilograms of methamphetamine along with electronic scales. The Criminal Court presided over by Judge Khaled Al-Tahous determined the men belonged to an international network operating from outside Kuwait. The Ministry of Interior described the operation supervised by senior officials as a significant disruption to transnational supply lines feeding the local market.

The Directorate General for Drug Control has carried out repeated campaigns throughout the year resulting in arrests and seizures that the ministry says have curbed availability of narcotics. Official summaries from the ministry indicate drug-related investigations remain a priority with coordinated actions involving border security and residential patrols. Cases ending in life imprisonment such as the one involving the two Kuwaiti citizens add to the pattern of severe judicial responses seen in both citizen and expatriate matters.
