Al-Qadsia Club appointed Kuwaiti coach Ahmed Al-Houli as technical director of its volleyball sector for the 2026-27 season. The decision forms part of a wider initiative to reinforce the department’s framework and provide oversight for teams at every age level. Al-Houli’s long track record in Kuwaiti volleyball and his established connections with domestic players and coaches proved decisive in securing his services, the club indicated. He assumes responsibility for supervising all technical aspects as the squad readies itself for the start of the campaign.
The appointment builds on several earlier moves within the technical setup. Argentine specialist Humber Alejandro had already been confirmed as head coach for the senior side while Mohammed Al-Damkhi was installed as volleyball director. Diego was brought in to serve as assistant coach, completing a multi-national technical team that now includes Al-Houli in a senior advisory capacity.
Player recruitment has run in parallel with the staffing changes. The club secured the services of Beninese outside hitter Daouda Yakubu to strengthen the first team roster. Local talents Yousef Mandeel and Abdullah Al-Assaf have also committed to the squad, adding depth with their proven domestic experience.
Preparations for the new season are reaching their final stages across the volleyball department. The club aims to create an integrated system that supports both elite performance and grassroots development. Such a structure is essential for producing a steady flow of players capable of representing Al-Qadsia at the highest levels.
The latest steps follow an unsettled period for the sport in Kuwait earlier this year. In April 2026 the club’s volleyball chief Dr Hussein Al-Qabandi told Al-Jarida that resuming activity looked extremely difficult given the regional situation and crowded calendar, leading to mutual terminations with the prior Serbian coach and several foreign players. The situation has since stabilised, allowing the club to rebuild its program from a more secure footing.
Volleybox historical records indicate that Al-Qadsia has maintained a consistent presence in the Kuwaiti league, frequently blending local talent with overseas recruits in recent campaigns. The 2025-26 roster featured players such as Alisson Melo and Ebrahim Mandil Alfadhli alongside international names. This pattern of investment continues with the current appointments and signings.
