AZERTAC reported citing the Cabinet of Ministers that Prime Minister Ali Asadov received Husain Al-Musallam to review plans for the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup scheduled at the Baku Aquatic Palace. The meeting stressed that the event would bolster Azerbaijan’s standing in international sport and help popularize swimming inside the country. Participants examined the attention devoted to aquatic sports development along with the modern facilities constructed and the organizational experience accumulated through past global tournaments.
The Cabinet of Ministers added that cooperation with World Aquatics has advanced steadily in recent years. Talks covered opportunities to enlarge that partnership in the period ahead. AZERTAC noted that the competition forms the initial stop on the 2026 Silk Road Tour with follow-on legs in Tashkent and Astana.
Event data compiled by World Aquatics places 216 swimmers from 44 countries at the Baku stop which runs from October 1 to 3. The gathering marks the first time a World Aquatics competition has been staged in Azerbaijan. Organizers expect the tour to raise visibility for the sport across the participating nations.

Its president used the Baku visit to assess local readiness for the competition. The Cabinet of Ministers indicated that expanded ties would bring further technical assistance and competitive pathways for Azerbaijani swimmers.
