The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition carried out the inspection in multiple food establishments across Farwaniya Governorate. Officials identified products that showed signs of spoilage along with failures to meet hygiene and storage requirements. The authority reported that the 98.7 kilograms of items were destroyed according to approved legal procedures after inspectors determined they posed risks to public health. The operation included the issuance of violation reports to the businesses involved.

This action forms part of the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition’s intensified oversight of food safety standards throughout Kuwait. In an August campaign the authority destroyed nearly 700 kilograms of unfit meat across Farwaniya, Mahboula and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates while issuing 80 citations for breaches that included workers lacking valid health certificates. The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has maintained that such coordinated inspections help curb the distribution of adulterated or deteriorated goods in local markets.

Farwaniya Governorate has featured in several recent authority operations targeting warehouses and retail sites. One inspection last month resulted in the destruction of 173 kilograms of rotten food along with five violation reports for regulatory non-compliance according to the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition. The body has listed improper food handling and unlicensed operations among the common infractions uncovered during these visits.

Consumers should examine items for changes in color, odor or packaging integrity before completing any purchase the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition advised in its campaign summary. The authority highlighted that visual checks and verification of supplier details can reduce exposure to unsafe products that occasionally reach shop shelves despite enforcement efforts. Such precautions align with the body’s broader objective of limiting health incidents linked to contaminated food.

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition operates ongoing monitoring programs across all governorates with a focus on high-volume commercial zones. Authority figures show hundreds of kilograms of unsafe food products removed from circulation in 2026 through these campaigns. Food operators found in violation face fines, license suspensions and mandatory corrective actions under the applicable regulations.
