The Capital Inspection Monitoring Department worked with investigators from Hawally Governorate to carry out the raid after weeks of surveillance identified the site as a hub for counterfeit activity. Monitoring efforts revealed that the warehouse was not only storing the fake products but actively selling them to customers under the pretense that they were genuine international brands. Once inside, teams confiscated the entire stock and registered the commercial violation on the spot.
According to the department, the seized goods consisted of 1,550 individual pieces of women’s clothing and footwear. The operation concluded with the shutdown of the warehouse and the launch of legal proceedings against those responsible for the fraud. This forms part of repeated actions taken to curb the distribution of counterfeit merchandise in local markets.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry reported seizing approximately 11,000 counterfeit items including clothing, footwear and handbags in a series of warehouse raids conducted earlier this month. That operation led to the closure of eight shops, according to a statement published by the ministry on July 8. The ministry has conducted several similar drives in 2026 targeting counterfeit goods in warehouses and retail spaces.
In a separate operation, emergency teams from Jahra and Farwaniya governorates teamed up with the Ministry of Interior to close a salon and spa that was operating in breach of regulatory standards. The premises violated rules prohibiting cash-only transactions along with other compliance requirements, prompting a full shutdown. Inspectors documented further infractions at the location that have since been referred for prosecution.
The authorities said inspection campaigns continue to monitor businesses, enforce laws against fraud and ensure compliance with commercial regulations. Separate teams have carried out inspections in multiple areas including Jahra and Farwaniya as part of the wider effort. Legal procedures are pursued in all cases where violations are confirmed.
