The Kuwait Fire Force said in a statement released on October 11, 2026 that it ordered the administrative closure of 27 facilities in the Al-Jahra Governorate. The authority issued notices and warnings to 61 additional facilities for failing to comply with fire safety and prevention requirements. The actions followed an inspection campaign that identified the violations during checks on buildings and other sites.
According to the statement the campaign targeted establishments that did not meet the required safety standards set by the force. Affected facilities will remain closed until they rectify the issues and secure the necessary clearances. The force did not specify the exact nature of the violations in the released statement.
A September 16 statement from the Kuwait Fire Force detailed a parallel campaign in the Fahaheel Industrial Area of Ahmadi Governorate that resulted in 16 administrative closures. That operation also produced 27 notices and two closure warnings to violating establishments. The campaign was conducted in cooperation with the Ministries of Interior and Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Municipality, the Environment Public Authority and the Technical Inspection Department.
The Kuwait Fire Force stated at the time that the goal was to strengthen field inspections, ensure compliance with regulations and take legal measures against violators. It affirmed that similar campaigns would continue across industrial areas to enhance safety standards.
An August 2025 campaign in Jahra led to the closure of 28 facilities and warnings to 46 others the authority reported then. These figures illustrate the scale of enforcement activities in the governorate over time. The force has conducted inspections in coordination with multiple agencies including the Public Authority for Industry and the Environment Public Authority in past operations.
A 2024 statement from Fire Prevention Sector inspection supervisor Brigadier Hassan Al-Shammari placed the fine for fire safety violations at between KD 5 and KD 50,000 after cases are referred to the judiciary. Operators typically receive opportunities to fix problems prior to enforcement. The approach forms part of the force’s strategy to enforce standards while allowing for compliance.
