Kuwaiti forward Sulaiman Al Arouj scored a hat-trick as Andover Town defeated Mob Albion 5–0 at Portway Stadium on Saturday, 10 October, sharing the goals with Ryan Morgans in a comprehensive home victory.

Al Arouj struck in the 26th, 46th and 74th minutes, while Morgans scored twice. The result gave Andover consecutive 5–0 league wins, following their victory away to Twentyten on 26 September.

The performance adds a sporting milestone to a wider Kuwaiti story at the Hampshire club. Alongside Al Arouj’s contribution, Andover’s squad includes midfielder Yousef Albasri, while Kuwaiti businessman Mohammad Alkandari leads the club as chief executive following its acquisition by Proleague Limited.

Three goals at Portway

Andover’s official match record shows Morgans opened the scoring after 10 minutes, before Al Arouj doubled the advantage in the 26th. The hosts took that two-goal lead into half-time.

Al Arouj scored again in the 46th minute, extending the advantage immediately after the interval. Morgans added his second in the 71st, with Al Arouj completing his hat-trick three minutes later to finish the scoring.

The Hampshire Premier League Division One fixture was played in front of an attendance of 75. Owen Trapnell captained Andover, with Al Arouj listed at centre-forward in the starting line-up and Morgans also starting.

For Al Arouj, the afternoon brought three goals spread across both halves rather than a late burst after the contest had already been decided. His first established a two-goal cushion, his second increased it after the restart, and his third completed the five-goal result.

Morgans’ contribution was equally clear on the scoresheet: the opening goal and the fourth, ensuring Andover’s attacking output came from more than one source.

Consecutive five-goal victories

The result followed another 5–0 league success, away to Twentyten on 26 September. Across those two fixtures, Andover scored 10 goals without conceding.

Their season’s results show that high-scoring victories have featured elsewhere in the campaign. Town opened their league schedule with a 5–0 win against Hayling United, followed by a 4–0 victory over North Waltham and a 9–0 result away to Paulsgrove.

The campaign has also included a 5–0 home win over Horndean United and a 7–1 cup victory against Denmead. The latest result therefore adds to an established scoring record, rather than standing as an isolated afternoon in front of goal.

Al Arouj had already appeared on the scoresheet before Saturday. The club’s September reporting recorded him scoring against both Denmead and Whiteley Wanderers. Against Mob Albion, he converted that earlier contribution into a three-goal performance.

The immediate task is now to carry the form into another competition. Andover’s published schedule lists a home Hampshire Premier League Cup tie against Locks Heath on 17 October, before an away league fixture against Nursling & Shirley on 24 October.

Kuwaiti players in the squad

The News Kuwait post highlighting the result also featured the arrival of Kuwaiti midfielder Yousef Albasri. Andover’s first-team squad page lists him as Yousef Albasry, reflecting a variation in the English spelling of his surname.

His presence gives the Kuwaiti connection a second dimension on the playing side. Al Arouj is contributing goals in competitive fixtures, while Albasri adds a midfield presence to the squad.

The two developments should remain distinct. Saturday’s official starting line-up includes Al Arouj, but does not list Albasri among the starters. His addition to the squad is a separate development from the hat-trick and should not be presented as a confirmed appearance in the Mob Albion match.

For Kuwaiti readers, that distinction makes the story more concrete: one player has delivered a documented three-goal performance, while another is part of the club’s playing group. Both sit within an English non-league setting where the next fixture provides the immediate measure of progress.

A shared ownership group with Salisbury

The club’s Kuwaiti links also extend to its management and ownership structure.

In its acquisition announcement, Salisbury confirmed that its ownership group, Proleague Limited, had completed the transfer of Andover Town and secured a 25-year lease of Portway Stadium from Test Valley Borough Council.

The announcement identified Mohammad Alkandari as a partner in the club who would oversee day-to-day operations as chief executive. Andover’s own officials directory also lists him in that role.

Proleague said Andover would retain its name, identity and home ground. It outlined plans for the two clubs to share scouting and coaching resources, with Andover providing senior football opportunities for academy players and others needing match minutes.

Facility improvements were also proposed, including consideration of an all-weather 3G pitch. Those remain stated plans rather than outcomes established by Saturday’s result.

The structure connects Andover with Salisbury under a common ownership group led by Kuwaiti businessman Ali Alhamad, while leaving each club with its own team, fixtures and local identity.

A club built around opportunities to play

Andover’s emphasis on developing players predates the latest ownership change. Its official history traces the club’s formation to work by Sparsholt and Andover Colleges to develop their football academy provision and create a senior team.

The project brought football back to Portway, with Andover Town entering the Wessex League in 2013. The original intention included helping academy players make the transition from youth football into the senior game.

That background gives context to the current partnership with Salisbury and the presence of Kuwaiti players in the squad. The club has long combined local football with opportunities for players to establish themselves at senior level.

On Saturday, the clearest outcome was on the pitch. Al Arouj completed his hat-trick, Morgans supplied two more goals, and Andover finished with another clean sheet. The next scheduled test comes at Portway against Locks Heath.
