The General Fire Force conducted inspection campaigns in the Capital and Hawally governorates to verify that buildings and facilities meet fire safety and prevention requirements. In Hawally the campaign produced administrative closures for 23 facilities along with 69 direct violation reports and 61 notices and warnings to additional sites. The parallel operations in the Capital governorate led to 90 closures and 208 notices and warnings according to the force.
According to the General Fire Force these measures addressed establishments that had not fulfilled the approved conditions for fire prevention. The authority applied legal procedures to sites posing risks to occupants and nearby properties. Such enforcement aims to maintain standards across commercial and industrial locations in both governorates.
Comparable initiatives have taken place regularly across Kuwait with one September campaign in Farwaniya governorate resulting in 24 administrative closures 57 notifications and five warnings the General Fire Force reported. An earlier drive in Ahmadi governorate closed eight facilities and issued 17 violation notices to others. These repeated actions reflect a sustained focus on regulatory oversight in areas with high densities of businesses and warehouses.
The General Fire Force has maintained this pace of inspections throughout 2026 with a prior operation in Shuwaikh recording 100 total violations split between the Capital and Hawally. That earlier effort noted 73 violations in Hawally alone according to the authority’s figures. Operators in affected sectors must obtain proper fire licenses and install mandated safety equipment to resume operations after closures.
These campaigns follow the June 2024 Mangaf incident in which Kuwait’s civil defence authority reported at least 49 worker deaths and which accelerated reviews of unlicensed and non-compliant storage sites nationwide. The General Fire Force said the inspections are part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with fire prevention and safety regulations and to protect lives and property. Similar oversight continues in all governorates to address recurring deficiencies in older structures and commercial premises.
