The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the fifth round of political consultations between the two countries took place in Prague on Tuesday with Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Hamad Al-Mishaan heading the Kuwaiti side. Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Maria Khatardova led her country’s delegation at the meetings. The talks reviewed bilateral relations between the friendly nations and explored ways to strengthen and develop cooperation across multiple fields while also addressing recent regional and international developments.
According to the foreign ministry the consultations included the formal signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Kuwait Diplomatic Institute and the Czech Diplomatic Academy focused on collaboration in diplomatic training and capacity building. Ambassador Hamad Al-Mishaan signed the document on behalf of Kuwait while Dana Kovarjikova the Director General of the Czech Diplomatic Academy signed for the Czech side. The ministry described the agreement as a step toward enhanced professional development for diplomats from both countries.
The ministry’s statement indicated that both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing coordination on shared priorities in foreign policy. Discussions touched on opportunities to expand ties beyond the current framework of political dialogue. This latest round continues a pattern of regular consultations that have helped solidify relations in recent years.
Kuwait and the Czech Republic have maintained friendly relations since establishing diplomatic ties on May 27 1963 according to a 2023 report by Times Kuwait. The two sides have in recent years discussed greater cooperation in sectors including energy defense education and cybersecurity as outlined in earlier diplomatic exchanges. The new training agreement aligns with these broader goals by focusing on the professional preparation of foreign service personnel.
The Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute has concluded comparable pacts with several international partners over the past year including European and African institutions Kuwaiti officials have noted in previous announcements. Such arrangements form part of a wider effort to strengthen Kuwait’s diplomatic workforce in addressing global issues like climate change and security. The institute provides specialized programs aimed at building expertise in mediation sustainable development and related fields.
Czechia’s diplomatic academy operates under the foreign ministry and maintains a established program of diplomatic education and research. The partnership is expected to facilitate exchanges of best practices and joint activities between the two training bodies. Senior officials from both foreign ministries witnessed the signing ceremony in the Czech capital.
