The Security Supervision Department executed the campaign under the General Traffic Administration, recording 115 direct violations along with five indirect ones related to vehicle standards and road regulations. All affected vehicles were transferred to the traffic detention garage for a mandatory 30-day holding period in line with standing procedures. Legal proceedings were initiated against the drivers involved, the administration reported.

The General Traffic Administration stated that its inspection campaigns will continue uninterrupted to secure motorists’ adherence to established rules while advancing broader road safety objectives. Department officials noted that such sustained enforcement helps curb recurring infractions that endanger public highways and contribute to incident rates. This operation forms part of a wider series of initiatives across Kuwait’s governorates.

A public health study covering traffic patterns in Kuwait documented a cumulative 24.2 million violations over its research period, according to researchers including those from Kuwait University. Annual figures rose from approximately 4 million citations in 2011 to nearly 6.5 million in subsequent years, the assessment found. These baselines have informed the department’s approach to stepped-up field enforcement in recent times.

A parallel campaign wrapped up on August 10 saw authorities impound 49 vehicles while issuing 64 violations under relevant traffic provisions, the General Traffic Department indicated. That drive, overseen by Brigadier General Ahmed Fahd Al-Azmi of the Traffic and Operations Sector and Brigadier General Rashid Hamoud Al-Hajri, spanned highways and interior roads alike. The sequence of actions points to a consistent departmental strategy aimed at persistent violation hotspots.

Departmental tallies from the Traffic and Operations Sector have shown more than 25,000 violations logged in the Capital Governorate during single intensive periods, accompanied by responses to over 1,300 accidents in comparable windows. Such volumes, drawn from official operational summaries, underline the resources dedicated to maintaining regulatory order nationwide. Parallel efforts in other regions have produced thousands of additional citations on a weekly basis.

The Ministry of Interior, which maintains oversight of the General Traffic Department, applies these campaigns to address issues from unauthorized vehicle alterations to behaviors that disrupt traffic flow. Standard 30-day impoundments apply in qualifying cases both as immediate sanction and longer-term preventive measure. Department updates routinely pair enforcement with calls for driver education to foster greater voluntary compliance.
