The operation was overseen by Colonel Nawaf Ahmed Al-Sabah, who serves as assistant director general for education and coordination affairs. Teams directed their attention to vehicle rental offices located in the Al-Qurain Markets district. The General Traffic Department reported that inspectors documented 55 separate traffic violations during the course of the campaign. Officers issued 38 citations connected to impound orders as they examined compliance with registration and safety standards.

One vehicle without a front license plate was impounded on the spot while authorities referred one individual for arrest in connection with the violations discovered. The General Traffic Department has stated that similar targeted campaigns will proceed in additional locations around Kuwait. Ministry of Interior figures from earlier in 2026 documented more than 25,000 traffic violations in a seven-day period amid comparable enforcement drives.

A separate campaign detailed by Times Kuwait on August 24, 2026, resulted in the impoundment of 62 vehicles along with one motorcycle and the issuance of 67 citations. The Ministry of Interior described those actions as elements of sustained programs to strengthen road safety and limit reckless behaviors. The Al-Qurain effort on August 25 fits within this sequence of operations conducted by the General Directorate of Traffic.

Rental businesses have received particular focus because their fleets circulate among many drivers who may not be fully familiar with Kuwaiti traffic regulations. The department’s review of such sites seeks to ensure that all vehicles carry proper documentation and meet operational requirements. Continued inspections are expected to maintain pressure on operators to uphold standards.

Warnings issued by the ministry on August 27 regarding repeated overtaking violations and road obstruction noted that such infractions can lead to mandatory court appearances under existing traffic law. Fines for these offenses range from KD 15 to KD 20 with possible vehicle impoundment for up to two months in qualifying cases. The General Directorate of Traffic emphasized adherence to all road rules as essential for preventing incidents.
