The Embassy of India in Kuwait launched the India-Kuwait Media Connect, or IKMC, on September 30 as a dedicated platform to deepen ties with the Kuwaiti media community. Ambassador Paramita Tripathi unveiled the initiative’s logo during the event and addressed participants on the media’s essential contribution to greater awareness and understanding of relations between the two countries. The embassy announced the platform as a means to advance engagement across Partnership, Perspectives and Possibilities.
According to the embassy’s announcement, IKMC will encourage consistent dialogue while streamlining the exchange of information and expanding avenues for productive media involvement. The platform seeks to convey the full scope of the India-Kuwait partnership to expanded audiences in both nations and beyond. Officials positioned the launch as a practical step toward more integrated communication on shared priorities.
The ambassador had previously met with the editor-in-chief of leading Kuwaiti newspapers in February to examine opportunities for reinforced media cooperation and stronger people-to-people connections. Those discussions, the embassy reported, underlined the media’s function in supporting broader bilateral objectives. Ambassador Tripathi has maintained focus on these themes through successive diplomatic activities.
This initiative arrives during the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations established in 1961, with historical commercial and maritime bonds stretching back over six centuries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s December 2024 visit to Kuwait, the first by an Indian premier in 43 years, raised ties to strategic partnership status and produced accords on defense, culture and sports. The two sides instituted a Joint Commission for Cooperation to direct fresh collaboration in trade, investment, technology and additional domains.
Annual bilateral trade has surpassed 10 billion dollars, according to regional assessments, with India counting among Kuwait’s principal partners and Kuwait providing vital energy resources to support Indian demand. Expanding cooperation now encompasses renewable energy, healthcare, food security and artificial intelligence projects aligned with national development visions in both countries. The media platform will assist in communicating advancements across these sectors to wider publics.
Parallel embassy efforts this year have included the India-Kuwait AI Impact Dialogue held in January and the Incredible India tourism campaign rolled out in December 2025 to observe the strategic partnership’s first year, featuring fleets of branded buses across Kuwait. These programs illustrate an active approach to multifaceted partnership that IKMC is designed to reinforce via specialized media channels. Ambassador Tripathi’s direction has guided the range of activities aimed at solidifying connections at diplomatic, economic and societal levels.
