The Ministry of Interior said First Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah began his Saturday field visit at Umm Al-Maradim Island port, where Coast Guard Director General Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef Al-Sabah received him. There the minister inspected facilities run by the Coast Guard, the Ports General Department and the Kuwait General Administration of Customs. He examined coordination mechanisms among the agencies to ensure effective maritime security and safety.

Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah proceeded to Qaruh Island to evaluate ongoing construction projects and directed that all work meet the approved schedule. He called for upgrades to facilities together with improvements in working and living conditions for personnel stationed on the island. The tour continued at Kubbar Island, where he received briefings on the security environment and ongoing field operations before commending the coast guard’s performance in safeguarding maritime borders.

According to the ministry, the minister met with citizens and beachgoers during the inspections and listened to their views on the services offered. Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah highlighted the need for continuous direct engagement with the public to incorporate their suggestions into future planning. This approach helps align security and support functions with actual conditions at the islands.

The press statement indicated that the minister ordered further development of maritime centers, elevation of their readiness levels and provision of all required resources to staff. He also called for stronger coordination and integration among agencies working at ports and islands. Such measures sustain high standards of maritime protection and safety.

Separately the Saudi Press Agency reported that Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan signed the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement on August 7, 2026, establishing a framework for collective defense. The pact, signed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, considers an armed attack on one as an attack on all. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud described the agreement as an important milestone in defense cooperation that reflects the depth of strategic and brotherly ties among the three countries.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Najran region that targeted civilian facilities and injured 11 people. The ministry affirmed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and stated that the kingdom’s security forms an integral part of Kuwait’s and the GCC’s security. Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said those injured included seven Saudis, a Yemeni, two Egyptians and a Pakistani.
