The Public Authority for Sports Director General Bashar Abdullah joined Fatima Abdulmohsen Al-Bannai, executive director of the Blue Shirt platform, to formalize a cooperation agreement that represents a key milestone in the country’s sports digitalization drive. Al-Bannai voiced appreciation for the backing provided by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr Tareq Al-Jalahma. She stated that the government’s support provides strong motivation for developing national projects and added that Blue Shirt reflects Kuwait’s vision of building a modern sports system based on data and artificial intelligence.
The Blue Shirt platform operates as a national project centered on sports intelligence by establishing a comprehensive knowledge base that employs data to inform decisions and raise Kuwaiti sports standards. The freshly signed pact will focus on documenting sports information while improving the quality and reliability of available data. Accurate information generated through the partnership will reach athletes, sports organizations, researchers and policy makers to enable more effective planning and outcomes.
Details of the agreement call for strengthened institutional practices rooted in dependable data as part of Kuwait’s wider shift to a knowledge-based economy and society. A joint meeting convened immediately after the signing to map out execution steps and identify opportunities for extended collaboration between the authority and the platform. The partnership is positioned to speed up digital change throughout the sports field by integrating advanced analytical tools into routine operations.
This initiative builds upon an ongoing United Nations Development Programme effort that supports institutional strengthening and strategic development within the Public Authority for Sport in alignment with the Kuwait National Development Plan. The UNDP project assists implementation of a national sports development strategy that seeks to upgrade governance structures and elevate sector-wide results. Such programs demonstrate a sustained official emphasis on embedding technology within sports administration and athlete support systems.
A Microsoft announcement from the previous year described collaboration with the Public Authority for Sports on artificial intelligence applications that included creation of the Hayakum app, which contributed to successful staging of the Gulf Cup. The technology company additionally partnered with the authority to establish an AI-powered national digital tourism hub that connects more than 80 entities for personalized user experiences. These joint projects highlight the expanding incorporation of intelligent systems into Kuwaiti sports events and related services.
Al-Bannai reiterated that the platform prioritizes reliable data flows to drive innovation and better results for national teams and governing bodies. Authority representatives stressed the value of such resources in helping Kuwait maintain competitiveness in Gulf and global competitions. The agreement further advances broader national digital transformation objectives that have already produced new electronic services and AI integration across multiple government entities.
