Kuwait’s Public Prosecution announced on June 21 2026 that five convicts were executed by hanging at the Central Prison the previous evening after their death sentences received final ratification from the Amir following completion of all appeals. The cases which spanned premeditated murder kidnapping with intent to kill and sexual assault had passed through preliminary investigations trials at all three judicial levels and reviews that included one convict’s request for reconsideration according to the authority. All constitutional guarantees were observed including rights to defense and litigation the Public Prosecution stated.
The Public Prosecution identified the executed individuals as including A.M. a Kuwaiti national convicted in Case No. 621 of 2021 from the Al-Ahmadi Prosecution of premeditated murder attempted murder possessing a Kalashnikov automatic rifle and possessing ammunition without a license. That matter originated at Mina Abdullah Police Station under Case No. 30 of 2021. The sentences were enforced only after the Court of Appeals the Court of Cassation and the Amir upheld the rulings the authority reported.
According to the Public Prosecution the second was H.S. another Kuwaiti national found guilty in Case No. 579 of 2023 from the Al-Jahra Prosecution of kidnapping by force with intent to kill premeditated murder unlawfully detaining the victim possessing narcotic substances and possessing a firearm with ammunition without license. The case was registered at Kabd Police Station as No. 8 of 2023. Procedures ensured the convict received every legal protection through the process the statement added.
The Public Prosecution listed M.H. an Egyptian national who received the death penalty in Case No. 1161 of 2024 from the Al-Ahmadi Prosecution for kidnapping by force and threat with intent to commit sexual assault sexually assaulting the victim by force threatening to kidnap the victim unlawfully detaining the victim and threatening the victim with self-harm to prevent resistance. This originated from Sabah Al-Ahmad South Police Station under Case No. 9 of 2024. Execution by hanging followed the exhaustion of all litigation stages the authority confirmed.
Further details from the Public Prosecution named A.M. described as a Bedoun or illegal resident executed for premeditated murder under Case No. 317 of 2021 handled by the Al-Jahra Prosecution and linked to Kabd Police Station Case No. 16 of 2021. Separately M.H. a Kuwaiti national was executed for premeditated murder in Case No. 809 of 2017 from the Al-Jahra Prosecution which began at Al-Waha Police Station as Case No. 52 of 2017. Each ruling had cleared the full sequence of judicial approvals before implementation.
Amnesty International’s report published in May 2026 recorded that Kuwait carried out 17 executions in 2025 nearly tripling the six from the prior year. The same document placed Kuwait among five countries that executed individuals for drug-related offenses with two such instances that year. One of the latest cases included convictions for possessing and acquiring narcotic substances according to the Public Prosecution details.
The Public Prosecution said the executions were implemented in accordance with final judicial rulings after the convicts were granted their legal and constitutional rights. It noted that the cases had gone through all required stages of investigation and trial. The authority confirmed that ratification by the Amir marked the end of the legal process for each man.
