The Ministry of Interior’s Criminal Security Sector solved four separate cases of diesel theft and telecommunications tower vandalism in the Jaber Al-Ahmad area, according to an official statement. Capital Governorate’s Investigation Department carried out the arrests of the four Indian nationals following an intensive surveillance operation that leveraged advanced technology. The suspects, who worked as maintenance staff for the towers, confessed to exploiting their positions to siphon off excess fuel supplies over an extended period. Investigators determined that the group had been diverting diesel allocated for the towers’ generators, reselling portions on the black market while redirecting other amounts to offset shortages at additional sites under their responsibility. This pattern of theft and associated vandalism spanned approximately two years and was connected to several other unresolved incidents in the vicinity. The ministry’s statement highlighted how the operation relied on coordinated monitoring to identify the perpetrators.

In recent years the Ministry of Interior has conducted numerous campaigns targeting similar crimes involving public infrastructure, resulting in dozens of arrests across various governorates. For instance, earlier operations led to the detention of gangs stealing electrical cables and government transformers in the same Jaber Al-Ahmad district, as reported in official updates from the Capital Governorate. These efforts form part of a broader strategy to protect national resources and maintain the integrity of critical communications networks.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Maj Gen Abdulwahab Al-Wuhaib has emphasized the adoption of modern technology to bolster security operations, a ministry assessment found. The use of surveillance tools in this case aligns with that direction, enabling faster resolution of cases that had been filed against unknown individuals. Such technological integration has contributed to improved investigative outcomes across the security apparatus.

The four suspects have been referred to the competent authorities for further legal action as the probe continues to uncover the full extent of the activities. The Ministry of Interior stated its determination to pursue strict measures against any tampering with vital infrastructure that serves public interests. Kuwait’s overall crime levels remain comparatively low, with Numbeo data placing the country’s crime index at 32.6 points in 2026.
