The Ministry of Interior said its recent security and traffic campaign in Hawally resulted in the arrest of 122 wanted persons along with the issuance of 547 traffic violations. The operation involved multiple field sectors and was supervised by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Hamed Al-Dawas under directives from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. The ministry stated that the campaign targeted violators in the area to enhance public safety and traffic compliance. Those detained were referred to the relevant authorities for further action.
The ministry’s announcement did not provide a breakdown of the charges behind the 122 arrests or the categories of the 547 violations. A September 2025 campaign in the same location according to Kuwait Times led to 1,078 traffic violations and the arrest of 14 violators and wanted individuals. The 2025 operation continued until dawn and was supervised by the same senior officials. Kuwait Times reported that the earlier campaign also resulted in the apprehension of a person in an abnormal state and another in possession of suspected alcoholic substances.
The Ministry of Interior has repeatedly stated that such intensified security and traffic campaigns remain a priority to safeguard citizens, residents and the homeland. The ministry has conducted multiple campaigns in the area in recent years. According to a 2022 estimate from Wikipedia, Hawally has a population of 218,141. This population figure contributes to the area being a frequent target for security operations.
According to Times Kuwait, a July 2025 campaign that covered Hawally and other areas led to the arrest of 153 persons for violations of residency and labor laws as well as other security-related offenses. That campaign was overseen by Undersecretary Major General Ali Al-Adwani on the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. The Directorate General of Residency Affairs Investigations was responsible for carrying out that drive.
The Ministry of Interior has indicated in its announcements that these joint security and traffic efforts help address multiple issues in a coordinated manner. No additional details such as seized items were mentioned for the recent Hawally campaign in the statement. The results from this operation will be incorporated into the ministry’s overall enforcement records for the year.
