Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef Al-Sabah chaired a coordination meeting on Wednesday to evaluate the country’s preparedness for hosting the Saudi Super Cup, according to the Ministry of Interior. The session included Acting Minister of Information Omar Al-Omar and Minister of State for Youth and Sports Tariq Al-Jalahma along with representatives from key government bodies. Discussions centered on integrating security, organizational and media efforts to meet all hosting requirements while ensuring facilities for fans and participants. The ministry stated that the gathering aimed to confirm seamless collaboration across agencies in advance of the December competition.
Representatives from the Public Fire Force, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Electricity Water and Renewable Energy, Kuwait Municipality, the Public Authority for Youth and Sports and the Kuwait Football Association joined private sector partners at the meeting, the ministry reported. Officials examined progress on logistical arrangements and public safety measures for the matches at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. The ministry added that emphasis was placed on ongoing field oversight to address any issues immediately and maintain high standards throughout the event.
Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef directed participants to prioritize precise task execution and direct inter-agency coordination to safeguard spectators and competitors. He called for prompt resolution of obstacles to ensure the tournament proceeds efficiently. The minister stressed that all preparations must present the event in a manner appropriate for Kuwait, according to the ministry’s account of the session.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation confirmed in September that Kuwait will stage the 13th edition of the Super Cup from December 19 to 23, the federation said. Clubs taking part are Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Qadsiah and Al-Kholood while the semifinal draw is scheduled for October 14 in Kuwait, the Kuwait Football Association reported. This marks the first time the competition leaves Saudi Arabia for Kuwait following earlier stagings in multiple Saudi venues as well as London, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong.
A hosting agreement was signed in Riyadh between Saudi federation president Bader Al-Reziza and Kuwait Football Association president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, according to both associations. Sheikh Ahmad welcomed the tournament as an enhancement to the Gulf sports calendar and expressed confidence in delivering a distinguished edition. Al-Reziza highlighted the chance to widen the competition’s audience and commercial scope, a development Reuters described as part of Saudi football’s regional expansion efforts.
Telecom operator Zain signed on as an official hosting partner for the tournament last month, the company announced. The partnership encompasses additional fan activities to complement the matches and boost engagement among expected crowds from Kuwait and beyond. Organizers anticipate strong regional interest in the four-team format that will unfold at the 60,000-capacity national stadium.
