The General Directorate of Traffic detailed outcomes from an extensive operation that deployed mobile patrols together with radar monitoring across several regions to target reckless driving and boost regulatory compliance. In addition to the violations identified officers detained five motorists for assorted infractions while referring two juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution for additional measures. Authorities further arrested 14 individuals wanted on separate charges and seized three vehicles subject to outstanding warrants during the activity.

Figures released by the directorate listed 35 speeding violations among those detected along with 243 cases of improper lane crossing that placed other road users at risk. The count also encompassed 940 instances of obstructing normal traffic flow and 1508 failures to signal before executing turns or lane changes. These categories represented a substantial share of the overall 2756 violations noted in the campaign according to the directorate.

According to the General Directorate of Traffic similar field operations will continue without pause throughout Kuwait to discourage behaviors that imperil road users. The directorate urged motorists to respect designated speed limits maintain proper lane discipline and activate signals consistently when changing direction or overtaking. Such practices would support reductions in collisions and improved protection for all who use the public roadways the directorate added.

The Ministry of Interior has maintained a series of traffic enforcement initiatives in recent months with one late August campaign producing 67 citations and the impoundment of 62 vehicles plus one motorcycle as detailed in a Times Kuwait report on the ministry’s update. Data covering an earlier week in 2026 showed more than 27600 violations recorded across governorates according to interior ministry statistics published by Kuwait Times. These repeated actions form elements of a wider plan to uphold revised traffic regulations rolled out in the past two years.

Separate figures cited by Times Kuwait pointed to a 50 to 60 percent reduction in serious traffic violations since the tougher statutes entered force roughly 16 months before mid-2026. The General Traffic Department has linked part of that progress to ongoing awareness programs coupled with the prospect of penalties that can include license suspensions substantial fines imprisonment or deportation in the case of expatriate offenders. Enforcement has zeroed in on infractions from excessive speeding through red-light running to operating vehicles absent valid documentation.

Public initiatives such as the Be Aware exhibition staged in July permitted drivers to resolve outstanding fines and recover impounded vehicles under a short-term program backed by senior interior ministry leadership. Acting Director General Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Nimran characterized the effort as a meaningful chance for individuals to bring their records current and refrain from future serious offenses in remarks reported by Times Kuwait. The blend of direct enforcement with educational outreach has remained central to the ministry’s approach to elevating road safety standards.
