According to the Kuwait News Agency, Kuwait Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraian discussed military cooperation and ways to enhance it during separate meetings on August 25, 2026, with the military attaches of Jordan, Egypt and Australia. The Army General Staff press statement named the Jordanian representative as Brigadier General Adnan Al-Khattab, the Egyptian as Brigadier General Mostafa Al-Dallal and the Australian as Colonel Dean Clark. These conversations supported military relations with brotherly and friendly countries, KUNA added.
Kuwait and Egypt have maintained a strong defence relationship with a formal agreement approved by decree law in June 2025. The legislation, published the following month, ratified an accord focused on military cooperation between the two governments, according to legal records maintained by Eastlaws. This built on an earlier signing ceremony in February 2025 involving Kuwait’s first deputy prime minister, minister of defence and minister of interior and his Egyptian counterpart.
Separately, Kuwaiti and Jordanian military leaders met in December 2025 to address similar topics of mutual interest. Al-Shuraian received Jordanian Armed Forces Chief of the Joint Staff Major General Yousef Al-Huneiti during an official visit, a joint statement carried by KUNA and Petra news agency showed. The chiefs toured the Mubarak Al-Abdullah Joint Command and Staff College as part of the program.
Australian defence ties with Kuwait form part of wider international partnerships for the Gulf state. While specific outcomes from the August 25 meeting with Colonel Dean Clark were not detailed beyond general cooperation, the engagement reflects continued dialogue. Jordan itself held talks with Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles in December 2025 that covered military and security cooperation, the Jordan Times reported.
The Kuwaiti chief’s latest engagements follow closely on the heels of a joint military committee meeting with the United States concluded on August 22, 2026. Both sides reviewed cooperation in training, maintenance and regional security during sessions at the Pentagon, a Kuwaiti Army statement indicated. They signed a memorandum of understanding on a strategic partnership with the Maryland National Guard at that time.
Kuwait has signed multiple defence-related agreements in the past 18 months. Kuwait Times reported in December 2025 that the country had concluded a military cooperation agreement with Egypt, six agreements with Jordan and an MoU with France’s National Gendarmerie for the National Guard. These steps have included coordination on logistics, training and capability development across various partners.
