Kuwait security authorities announced the arrest of an Egyptian national working as a building guard in the Khaitan area after he stole a television from one of the apartments under his watch. A surveillance camera helped identify the suspect and his vehicle’s license plate leading officers to apprehend him swiftly. The ministry’s Criminal Security Sector handled the case with the suspect confessing during initial questioning that he acted due to financial difficulties.
According to security sources the man sold the television for more than 70 percent of its original price to another Egyptian national. That buyer then shipped the item to Egypt unaware that it had been stolen. The full case file including statements from all parties has been referred to the competent authorities for prosecution as per standard procedure in such property crimes.
The Ministry of Interior has stepped up operations against various forms of theft in recent months. In June 2026 the Criminal Security Sector arrested five Egyptian and Bangladeshi nationals for stealing electrical cables with the suspects confessing to repeated thefts and selling the materials for profit. That case also led to the discovery of an illegal warehouse rented for 200 dinars that was subsequently closed for violating municipal and fire safety regulations.
Similar actions have targeted gangs stealing government transformers and cables with one August 2025 operation resulting in the arrest of multiple Bangladeshi Egyptian and Kuwaiti individuals. The ministry has repeatedly stated that such campaigns aim to protect infrastructure and private property while referring all seized items and suspects for legal processing. These efforts reflect a sustained focus on residential and industrial area security where surveillance plays a key role in identifications.
Building guards and service workers form a significant part of the expatriate community in Kuwait with many employed in maintenance roles across districts like Khaitan. Security sources advise property owners to install and maintain CCTV systems as they have proven effective in resolving incidents quickly. The latest arrest adds to a series of cases where prompt use of available evidence has led to confessions and case closures without prolonged investigations.
