The Meteorological Department expects stable weather conditions to prevail across Kuwait during the upcoming weekend with temperatures hovering around seasonal averages for this time of year. Acting Director Dharar Al-Ali told Kuwait News Agency on Thursday that the country is seeing an improvement in conditions as the Indian monsoon low recedes and a high-pressure system extends from the northwest bringing scattered clouds. Winds are forecast to be northwesterly to variable remaining light to moderate through the period.
For Thursday the department’s bulletin indicated hot weather with relative humidity along coastal areas and highs ranging from 40 to 42 degrees Celsius. Northwesterly to variable winds will blow at 8 to 28 kilometers per hour accompanied by some high clouds. Sea conditions will stay slight to moderate with waves between 1 and 4 feet.
The forecast for Friday calls for slightly higher temperatures between 41 and 43 degrees Celsius under continued hot and partly cloudy skies. The same light to moderate northwesterly winds are expected at speeds of 10 to 30 kilometers per hour. Nighttime conditions will turn mild to moderate with lows of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius and similar wind patterns the department reported.
Saturday will maintain the hot and partly cloudy theme with maximums forecast between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department’s data winds will range from northwesterly to variable at 8 to 32 kilometers per hour during the day. Evenings will remain mild with minimum temperatures in the 24 to 26 degree range and light to moderate winds persisting.
These projections come as Kuwait transitions out of the peak summer heat when the Meteorological Department routinely recorded highs exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in July and August according to historical patterns. The current calm is attributed to the shifting pressure systems that reduce both intensity and dust levels compared to previous months. Al-Ali’s update to the news agency emphasized the absence of any significant weather disturbances over the next several days.
Kuwait’s coastal areas are anticipated to experience relatively higher humidity levels even as the overall system stabilizes. The department advised residents to take necessary precautions during the hot daytime hours despite the calmer overall pattern. Sea waves are projected to remain between 1 and 4 feet throughout the weekend according to the official outlook.
