The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition carried out an inspection campaign in Ahmadi Governorate that uncovered several unlicensed food facilities operating from private homes. The operation, conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, identified violations including the preparation and circulation of adulterated food items along with failures to meet required technical and health standards. Inspectors determined that the sites lacked proper licensing and did not comply with personal or general hygiene rules, prompting immediate enforcement action.

According to the authority, the campaign specifically targeted residential properties converted for commercial food production and sales without oversight. Violations extended to improper storage practices and the absence of necessary health certificates for workers handling food. The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition noted that such setups pose direct risks to consumers and bypass mandatory regulatory supervision from both the authority and Kuwait Municipality.

The authority reported that enforcement teams destroyed 150 kilograms of various food products deemed unfit for consumption during the raids. Legal procedures were initiated against those responsible, with all relevant cases referred for prosecution. This action aligns with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition’s mandate to monitor compliance and remove unsafe items from circulation.

Similar campaigns by the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition have taken place across multiple governorates in 2026, including a parallel effort in Mubarak Al-Kabeer that covered 26 food establishments and produced eight violation reports. In that instance, the authority destroyed an additional 2.457 kilograms of contaminated food while documenting breaches of licensing, hygiene and health certificate requirements. The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has conducted dozens of such joint operations with the Ministry of Interior throughout the year.

The authority has stated that its inspection and monitoring efforts will persist to safeguard public health and enforce food safety regulations. Data from the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition shows recurring issues with home-based operations that employ workers without valid health documentation, a pattern observed in raids from April through September. Officials stressed that all food businesses must obtain official licenses and adhere to hygiene protocols.

Kuwait’s expatriate workforce, which the Public Authority for Civil Information places at more than 3.3 million people, features prominently in these enforcement actions as many violations involve undocumented labor in food handling. The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition continues to coordinate with security agencies to address illegal commercial activities in residential areas. Further campaigns are planned to maintain pressure on non-compliant operators.
