Ministry records show such cases frequently combine traditional narcotics with diverted prescription drugs that have entered informal markets. The discovery of a firearm alongside the substances escalates the matter and requires parallel ballistic examination according to standard procedure the ministry outlined. Similar arrests have occurred across several governorates in recent months as surveillance efforts expand.
In a June announcement the ministry detailed the arrest of three Kuwaiti citizens after surveillance led to the seizure of 1.5 kilograms of cocaine 700 grams of hashish and 5,000 psychotropic capsules. Officers also recovered an electronic scale used for packaging during that operation the ministry stated. All three individuals and the materials were referred to prosecution immediately.
An August ministry statement described the largest Lyrica manufacturing network dismantled to date in which five suspects including three Kuwaitis were detained and roughly five tons of raw powder nearly four million capsules plus a pistol were confiscated. The total estimated value of that haul stood at KD 150 million the ministry calculated after inventory. Three linked sites used for production and storage were closed as a result.
The ministry has observed that firearms appear in a subset of higher-volume narcotics cases prompting additional charges under weapons laws. Laboratory results from the latest arrest will help trace possible supply routes the ministry noted.
