The MK Endurance Team announced via Instagram that coach and triathlete Mubarak Al-Jumah completed the full-distance Ironman Kalmar with a personal best of 9 hours, 31 minutes and 4 seconds. His splits included a 3.9-kilometer swim in 1 hour, 15 minutes and 16 seconds at an average pace of 1:59 per 100 meters, an 180-kilometer bike in 4 hours, 52 minutes and 57 seconds at 37 kilometers per hour and a 42.2-kilometer run in 3 hours, 17 minutes and 29 seconds at 4:39 per kilometer. That performance set a new Kuwait national record while securing his qualification for the Ironman World Championship in Kona.
Al-Jumah had recorded a previous Ironman time of 10 hours, 9 minutes and 14 seconds at an earlier event. The improvement of nearly 38 minutes reflects sustained training with the MK Endurance Team. The team highlighted the result as a milestone that opens the door to elite-level competition.
IRONMAN organizers reported that the Kalmar event on August 15, 2026 featured competitive professional fields alongside age-group athletes. Germany’s Jonas Schomburg won the men’s professional race while compatriot Laura Philipp set a women’s course record of 8 hours, 13 minutes and 37 seconds. Variable weather and a challenging bike course tested all participants at the Swedish venue.
The record adds to the rising profile of triathlon within Kuwait. Al-Jumah balances high-level competition with coaching roles at the MK Endurance Team, where he guides other athletes. His latest success demonstrates the potential for Kuwaiti competitors on the international endurance scene.
According to IRONMAN guidelines, qualification for the World Championship requires a strong age-group finish at a sanctioned event to claim one of the limited slots available. The Kona race annually assembles top endurance athletes from around the globe under demanding Hawaiian conditions. Al-Jumah’s slot marks a significant step for Kuwaiti representation at the pinnacle event.
MK Endurance Team stated in the announcement that the real work begins now as preparations intensify for Kona. The athlete is expected to adjust training to address heat, wind and humidity factors specific to the Hawaii course. Supporters have responded positively to the post detailing his achievement.
