Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait Dr Zafar Iqbal declared that Pakistan remains committed to guaranteeing the security and safety of Kuwait under all circumstances. He made the statement during a speech at an embassy-organized event on July 1 as regional developments continued to shape diplomatic coordination between the two nations. Iqbal condemned any form of aggression or threat against Kuwait while praising its leadership for managing recent challenges and supporting de-escalation efforts across the region. He added that dialogue and diplomacy offer the best path to overcoming crises with the venue for any talks requiring consensus among all parties involved.
The ambassador pointed to a long-term defense cooperation agreement that binds the two countries through security collaboration, information sharing, expertise exchange and joint training exercises. Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs records show the pact was signed in June 2023 with recent regional shifts further solidifying technical and operational ties. Iqbal clarified that no Pakistani military forces are deployed in Kuwait even as the framework supports broader stability objectives. He lauded Kuwait’s contributions to regional peace initiatives and expressed readiness to provide any necessary facilities for negotiations.
Trade volumes between Pakistan and Kuwait have expanded despite global supply chain pressures according to the ambassador. He reported an 8 percent increase in exchange over the past 11 months crediting joint efforts by authorities in both countries for sustaining smooth flows. United Nations COMTRADE database figures placed Pakistan’s exports to Kuwait at $117.2 million during 2025. Iqbal described the bilateral relationship as rooted in deep friendship and mutual trust free from any hidden agendas.
More than 100,000 Pakistanis currently reside in Kuwait where they contribute across economic and developmental sectors the ambassador noted. He highlighted streamlined visa procedures for those seeking work opportunities in the country as further proof of robust ties. Many community members feel deeply attached to Kuwait and have no desire to leave given its security stability and quality of life Iqbal added. The presence of this workforce reflects the strength of people-to-people bonds between the nations.
The Taste of Pakistan 2026 gathering sought to showcase authentic cuisine and cultural traditions while reinforcing friendship between the two countries. Iqbal explained that food serves as an important vehicle for spreading culture and building understanding among diverse populations. Dishes on display represented Pakistan’s geographical and culinary diversity he said. Diplomats officials and media representatives formed a large part of the audience at the embassy event.
