The Ministry of Interior detailed how security personnel at the Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve first spotted the two suspects inside the protected zone and promptly alerted the operations room. Coordinated efforts by the General Department of Emergency Police and the Criminal Investigations Department then tracked down the pair after they fled the scene. Investigations revealed that the men had removed the vehicle’s license plates prior to entry in an effort to conceal their identities during the unauthorized hunt.

Environmental police issued the formal violations against the suspects before referring them to the competent authorities for prosecution, the ministry said in its statement on X. Both the vehicle involved in the trespass and all associated hunting tools were seized at the scene. The car was subsequently sent to the crusher as mandated by regulations governing such environmental breaches.

Article 105 of Kuwait’s Environmental Protection Law prohibits all forms of hunting, capturing or disturbing wildlife within natural reserves while Article 150 sets the penalties for violations at up to one year in prison and fines between 500 and 5,000 Kuwaiti dinars or either sanction along with confiscation measures. The ministry’s account placed the total penalties imposed on the two men within these boundaries following their court appearance. This enforcement reflects ongoing patrols aimed at preserving the reserve’s ecosystem from disruptive activities.

The Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve stands as one of Kuwait’s primary protected terrestrial zones supporting diverse species of birds, mammals and native vegetation according to Environment Public Authority assessments. Illegal entries such as this one have prompted repeated crackdowns with a similar falcon-hunting case leading to arrests in the same reserve last October. Authorities have noted that such incidents undermine broader conservation goals in areas already stressed by regional development pressures.

A separate security campaign conducted by the ministry in the Sabah Al-Ahmad marine area during October 2025 resulted in 1,844 traffic violations being recorded along with several arrests for narcotics possession and residency infractions. That operation fell under the supervision of Major General Hamed Manahi Al-Dawas and other senior officials from the Public Security and Criminal Security sectors. It formed part of sustained efforts to maintain order across the wider Sabah Al-Ahmad region that encompasses the nature reserve.

The latest incident adds to a pattern of cases where vehicles used in environmental violations are destroyed to deter repeat offenses while underscoring the role of inter-agency cooperation between reserve guards, emergency responders and environmental police units. Public awareness initiatives have encouraged residents to obtain necessary permits before approaching protected boundaries. The ministry continues to monitor sensitive ecological sites as part of its routine operational mandate.
