Kuwait’s General Department of Criminal Investigation solved an armed robbery at a jewelry store in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh with the arrest of two Syrian expatriates and the full recovery of all stolen items. One suspect was detained in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh itself while the second was apprehended in Hawally where some of the gold was located in their possession. A security source from the department said the case was closed in record time after detectives reviewed surveillance camera footage and applied forensic evidence to identify the pair. The source confirmed that every piece of jewelry taken during the incident has been returned to its owner.
According to the security source the robbery unfolded at approximately 8 a.m. on Thursday when the two individuals entered the premises and brandished a plastic toy gun to intimidate the shop worker. The employee was tied up while the suspects gathered gold bracelets chains necklaces and additional pieces before leaving the scene. The source added that the pair made their escape in a vehicle stolen less than two weeks earlier from another location in the country.
The security source reported that the getaway car had been altered with two mismatched stolen license plates one on the front and one on the rear to disguise its origins and avoid immediate detection by patrols. Despite these precautions the General Department of Criminal Investigation traced the vehicle and its occupants through coordinated analysis of available evidence. This methodical approach allowed authorities to locate and detain both individuals within a short period following the initial report of the crime.
During subsequent questioning the two suspects confessed their involvement in the robbery the security source stated. They provided directions to a remote desert site where the stolen gold jewelry and the plastic toy gun had been concealed after the theft. Officers recovered these items intact and secured them as part of the ongoing case file maintained by the General Department of Criminal Investigation.
The two Syrian expatriates have been referred to the competent authorities for the completion of legal proceedings the security source indicated.
