Education Minister Jalal Al-Tabtabaei issued the decision to apply the tracks system exclusively to students entering 10th grade who choose to enroll at the selected institutions while the existing secondary curriculum continues without alteration for all others. The pilot covers one boys school and one girls school in each educational district to enable thorough assessment of the model’s viability across varied settings. The Ministry of Education described the phased approach as essential for measuring outcomes before considering broader adoption.

The framework extends across three academic years split into six semesters and incorporates a total of 54 academic units. Tenth grade operates as a shared foundation period in which students complete core subjects together with two dedicated exploration experiences intended to clarify their capabilities and preferences. This structure allows learners to make more informed decisions about their future path once the initial year concludes.

Participants may choose among eight specialized tracks encompassing languages, law, social sciences, business, mathematics, sciences, industrial fields, and technology with artificial intelligence. The Ministry of Education stated that these pathways address diverse student aptitudes while aligning with university studies and labor market demands. Selection relies on a combination of academic records, exploration results, personal interests and demonstrated abilities rather than grades alone.

The accompanying Masar digital platform will handle registration, academic monitoring and official record keeping to advance the ministry’s digital transformation objectives in school administration. This online system supplies unified tools that enable both students and authorities to track progress more effectively throughout the three-year cycle. Integration of the platform forms a central component of the updated educational process.

Selected institutions include Abdullah Al-Otaibi Secondary School for Boys and Jumana Bint Abi Talib Secondary School for Girls in the Capital district along with counterparts such as Jabir Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Secondary School for Boys in Hawally and additional facilities representing all regions. The Ministry of Education confirmed the distribution ensures representative testing of the system in different geographic and demographic contexts. Officials will evaluate implementation closely to identify necessary adjustments.

This pilot revives elements of the courses system last used some 20 years ago but in a revised format that prioritizes student-centered discovery from an earlier stage. The Ministry of Education explained that the program seeks to build a more adaptable secondary stage connected to future national development goals and employment requirements. Results gathered during the initial rollout will shape any decisions on expanding the tracks model in subsequent years.
