Security sources reported that the break-in took place after business hours in a commercial area of Farwaniya governorate when the unidentified individual forced entry into the premises. The shop owner arrived the following morning to discover the cash missing along with evidence of unauthorized access and promptly reported the matter to officers at the Farwaniya police station. Detectives registered a case of theft involving breaking and entering while forensic teams collected evidence from the scene including possible fingerprints.

According to those sources the stolen sum totaled KD 1,974 which likely represented daily proceeds or stored funds from the small tailoring business. Investigators have begun reviewing CCTV recordings from surrounding streets and buildings to identify any individuals present near the shop at the time of the incident. No arrests have been announced so far but the Criminal Investigation Department continues to pursue leads in the case.

A Ministry of Justice assessment found that theft cases registered with public prosecution offices across Kuwait declined 43.4 percent in the first half of 2026 falling from 781 to 442 compared with the same period a year earlier. The figures released by Justice Minister Nasser Al-Sumait showed robbery cases dropped 66.4 percent while break-in and trespass thefts decreased 48.5 percent from 334 to 172 during those six months. The ministry linked the reductions to improved security efforts and ongoing awareness initiatives by government agencies.

The Farwaniya Governorate Security Directorate has carried out multiple campaigns this year focusing on commercial districts resulting in arrests connected to various violations including outstanding warrants for theft-related matters. Data compiled by the interior ministry indicates the governorate accounts for a measurable portion of property crime reports given its dense mix of shops and residential zones. Such proactive operations support the work of detectives handling individual complaints such as the tailor shop burglary.

Criminal investigation officers in Farwaniya have solved comparable theft cases in recent months by matching witness accounts with video evidence and tracing stolen goods through local networks a security source noted. In one prior series of incidents targeting similar businesses seven individuals were identified and referred to prosecution after admitting to multiple offenses. The current investigation will follow established procedures with findings expected to be forwarded to the Public Prosecution upon completion.
