The Kuwait Fire Force responded to an apartment fire in Mangaf that left two people injured, with teams quickly bringing the blaze under control and ensuring medical assistance for those affected. Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, spokesman for the force, outlined the incident in official updates that stressed the efficiency of the intervention. The event occurred in Al-Ahmadi Governorate, an area that has recorded the highest number of rescue operations so far this year according to force statistics.
Al-Gharib stated in an interview with KUNA that the Kuwait Fire Force handled 8,282 of 8,751 emergency calls received nationwide during the first half of 2026. The calls broke down to 3,171 rescue cases, 2,545 good-faith assistance requests, 2,159 fire reports, 819 public service reports and 57 other incidents. Residential fires accounted for 629 of the fire reports while non-residential areas saw 314, land transport 432 and other locations 778 in addition to five air and one land incident.
The spokesman added that firefighting teams and partner agencies managed 3,432 rescue reports overall, with electrical short circuits among the leading causes of blazes during the period. He called on residents to perform regular maintenance on wiring through qualified technicians, avoid overloading sockets and refrain from using substandard equipment. Al-Gharib further advised disconnecting unused appliances and taking immediate action on signs of malfunction such as burning smells or smoke.
Fire Force operations in the first six months also included an inspection campaign in Al-Farwaniya Governorate that resulted in the administrative closure of 24 establishments, 57 notices and five closure warnings for safety violations. Al-Gharib reiterated that adherence to prevention requirements helps limit incidents and safeguards lives along with property. The Mangaf response fits within the broader pattern of residential calls that continue to form a substantial share of the force’s workload.
